In the West it is very easy to dissolve the ego. So whenever a Western seeker reaches to an understanding that ego is the problem, he can easily dissolve it. Your gathering is mechanical. It has not arisen out of you, it is not a growth. It is just rubbish gathered from other doors —borrowed, dead. Remember, knowing is alive only when you know, when it is your immediate, direct experience. But when you know from others it is just memory, not knowledge. Memory is dead

When we focus awareness on the gap between the in-breath and out-breath, the gap starts to expand. With practice. it is possible to reach a point where time seems to come to a stop. and where we move beyond the notion of breathing in and out. In this gap, which also exists between the appearance of one thought and an-other. we can experience life without concepts and boundaries.

In this lifetime it’s time to dissolve ego identification with all past accomplishments. You can become immersed in feelings of vague frustration and helplessness that keep you from manifesting your dreams. This is because the vision is changing: The old cycle of identity is dissolving, and the new is not yet on the threshold. But visions of a new identity and what the new cycle of manifestation will be like do occur. Your task:To release internal blocks to implementing the new vision, even though it can be frustrating. Your destiny is to allow the vision of the new to give you enough confidence to release old forms of ego expression that are not working in the current incarnation. In this way you can become identified with the source, rather than activity, and your destiny is fulfilled.


Without an ego to scrutinize, conceptualize, and categorize the various psychological and environmental phenomena that we en-counter, what was once experienced as many starts to become whole again. The vast majority of people view reality through the lens of an ego that deems itself separate from all of their mental imprints, as well as the situations and experiences that caused these imprints to develop. In other words, most people separate existence into: (i) the observing ego or self, (ii) the internal psychological world, and (iii) the external physical world. Howev-er, by allowing the ego to dissolve into the empty space and uni-verse around them, the Mindful Warrior no longer makes such divisions. They experience all aspects of reality as one thing, and do not think in terms of an ego-self that observes and is separate from its inner or outer world.

This meditation comprised ten exercises, and the eighth exercise was as follows: Beathing in. I am aware of the space and time that exists between my in-breath and out-breath, and between my out-breath and in-breath: breathing out. I relax into this space and time. We can use meditative breathing to access and better understand the principle of the internal and external world dissolving into one.

Due to not compartmentalizing reality, the accomplished Mindful Warrior is without a me, or I that can be insulted, hint, or offended. Suffering requires something to happen in our psychological or physical environment that in some way threatens the existence or ideals of the ego-self. However. if there is no longer an ego that can consider itself poorly treated, then suffering cannot arise. learning to see the world without the interference of the ego is at the heart of mindfulness practice. Mindfulness means that we understand that the mind is complete and is full of abso-lutely everything. In a mind that is complete and encompasses everything, suffering is unable to take hold.

This ultimately entails a kind of ” ego death , ” a letting go of exclusive identification with the separating ego and a … of life and transpersonal experiences which dissolve ego boundaries and expand consciousness beyond the usual confines …

“The heavens shall roll away as a scroll. The elements shall melt with fervent heat.” We are told in the Raja Yoga philosophy of India, that the earth ego is shrouded by five sheaths which right doctrine will dissolve, and that the man ego is shrouded by five sheaths which the right doctrine will dissolve.

The right doctrine is the true statement of what God is, what nature is, what man is, what life is. In a little book of translated aphorisms by Tookeram Tatya, we read, “A wise man must acquire the discrimination of Spirit and not-Spirit, as only by realizing the Self which is Absolute being, consciousness and bliss, he himself becomes bliss.” The “I” that is conscious of the gross body and is hurt or pleased by what happens to the gross body is the human ego. So long as that which happens in the gross world is observed and changes, we are human ego, human mind. This “I” is one of the sheaths of the divine Spark. By dissolving the human “I” or ego, the shining Absolute breaks forth and the gross body disappears.

All the points of Jesus Christ doctrine are directed to the dissolving of the sheaths of the Soul Ego, or the Divine Spark, the God Self: First, by the right doctrine of the Soul, mind, nature, and matter; second, by the right doctrine of Ego, God, invisible, un-nameable One; Third, by ceasing from doctrine altogether. Never till the tongue is speechless, the mind dissolved, the ego melted can truth be known—be exposed—be brought forth. Then all doctrine is seen to be not.

Then the Ego, the so called God is seen to be not. Then Truth Absolute, as our language has it at its best, is seen to be not. That which Is is not that which can be told. There is something that is free from all union. That is which Is. That which is unattached, is free. That which is free, is God. Hence he who looks toward freedom by doctrine is looking toward God.

To look toward freedom by doctrine is to use an instrument to view the heavens or the insects of earth. Doctrine treats of omnipresence. This is telescopic information. Doctrine treats of the inconceivably small. This is microscopic information. Each takes the mind from its habitual tracks and shows to the senses new territories. But no doctrine is truth. All doctrine is but an instrument to distract the mind’s native knowledge from Truth.

The purpose of Jesus Christ is to set mind free from doctrine, to turn it to see the Absolute, and thus, to be the Absolute. Science teaches to ignore science. Doctrine leads to dropping doctrine. Talk of God leads to no talk of God. Spiritual Science leads away from science. Spiritual Science dissolves science. It dissolves itself. Its only mission is finished when we know there is nothing to say, for there is nothing to know. The Truth is unknowable by that which is dissolvable. Truth is known only to itself. Only God brings forth God. God is what IS.

God being the only One, those who take the passages of Scripture spiritually are found declaring that the God in man swallows all that has being and all that has existence. The unlimited One is the consuming fire which swallows death and hell, heaven and paradise, being and not being. Is it not written that death and hell are swallowed up in victory? Is it not written that Jesus Christ is the victory that swallows death and hell? Jesus Christ is a Name of God consuming the universe. “I draw all men unto Me.”

Is it not the word of Jesus Christ that all things are delivered unto Him of the Father? Who so glorious in peace as he who eats and contains all things and is satisfied? It is the Jesus Christ in man that calls for all things to be consumed in his own body. It is God containing God. This is illumination.

This is the shining light. This is smokeless fire. This is the light of the world. Whatever interpretation of Scripture pleases you best is your illumination such as you have. And your illumination is your doctrine.

Doctrine acts as a light to the feet and a lamp shining on the pathway to be one’s defense and gloriousness, or his Hades and pain. Send on ahead of yourself your proclamation of what is according to your interpretation and you will find every stone and tree moving itself either out of your way to give you free transit or into your way to hinder you when you arrive at that object your doctrine prepared for you. “My word,” saith the Lord, “is a lamp unto your feet.” “My word,” saith Satan, “is plainly spoken by you when you realize satanic conditions.” “The letter killeth,” says a bold text. That is, whoever takes the Scripture as it reads literally, must be material and go out as matter goes out, namely, in death.

For we find that the letter preaches a doctrine of death; therefore. that letter being a man’s highest light arranges his pathway. It is his lantern. It is the doctrine that transfigures and delights the pathway which interprets Scripture as God. He who takes the lake of fire to be a literal, material Hades must have much heat of life’s battle. “In the world, ye shall have tribulation.” He who finds the lake of fire a hot remorse of mind for his errors has a double torment, for thus both his mind and his body enter into daily tribulation.

It is the testimony of Jesus Christ that when a man touches right doctrine, he turns with it to look toward his own heart. He does not despise his heart as a physical thing with no reality; he looks toward it as a point of light shining forth from his whole body. He does not despise his heart as a mind center and thus only an instrument to use; he looks toward it as the One only Light. Therein he finds his original form, his first beauty, his undimmed wisdom, his pristine splendor as God. He finds that his own heart is worthy of his whole attention. It is keeping his lamp trimmed and burning for a man to look toward his own heart till he sees within it all that it contains of the God Fire. Then, from that understanding, he is able to shed a light on the heavenly kingdom nigh him which shall not fail. Jesus Christ received no doctrines from men. He turned Him toward the light that was in Him as in all men before the world was. “I am the Light of the World,” was His doctrine when He lost Himself in His own heart flame.

All human mind is instrumental. It is not alive. It is not Substance. When it touches the Divine Mind, it is not; this is death. Divine Mind appears; this is Life. As the human mind turns its thoughts and speech upon the Divine Mind, we see a strange shining, we feel a strange power.

The Absolute Good works and none shall hinder. “Stand ye still and see the salvation. The Lord will fight for you this day.” By whatsoever process you turn the attention of your mind to the Very Present God, it signifies not; you shall touch God by your mind’s sight and strike eternal fire for your reward.

But the ego belongs . It exists in a pattern . So if you are left alone for a long period , your ego will , by and by , subside . By and by you will feel that your ego is being starved because the ego needs constant help from others .

As soon as you are content or self-satisfied, or, in other words, feel your needs are met, the desire to hang on to what you have arises. This is true of knowledge, or what you know, and of who you are, just as much as it is of special relationships and what you might more readily think of as treasure, such as a successful career or inspired creative project.

As soon as the desire to hang on arises, both learning and unlearning cease to occur. The desire to maintain a state you believe you have achieved and have labeled a state in which your needs are met creates a static level, that no matter how good or right or meaningful, loses its creative nature by remaining static.

So how do you remain within the constant creative flux or flow of creation without either constantly striving for more of what you already have or for what you consider progress? You need a means of disconnecting this drive that has become instinctual to you. As a being existing in form, you have honed certain instincts over millennia, such as the instinct to survive, in order to carry on in physical form.

There is no such thing as a static level in unity where creation is continuous and ongoing. You should have no desire to reach such a state and the awareness that you are in such a state can alert you, or serve as a sign, that the ego-mind and its fear-based thinking have momentarily returned. This does not mean that you will never be at rest or that you will be constantly seeking to arrive. As has already been said, you have arrived and rest exists only in the state of unity.

Because you have not thought previously of needs as tools every bit as valuable as the others mentioned here, this adjustment in your thinking may seem difficult to accept. How does the identification of needs or the dependency inherent in relationships bypass the ego-mind? They heretofore have not, only because of your perception of them as signals of what you are lacking. Once this perception has shifted, your ego-mind will cease to be fed by these concerns. What is food for the ego-mind is fear and the removal of these final fears will quite literally starve the ego-mind out of existence.

The Belief We Only Learn in Unity

You would have to work mightily to turn the lessons of this Course into a tool, but many of you will not tire of this work until you succeed. This is how truths become dogma and dogma becomes tyranny. This happens by accepting a static state. A static state is not a living state because creation is not occurring within it. This is a living Course. This is why you are called to live it rather than to take it. This is why you are called to be a teacher and a learner both. This is how the exchange of giving and receiving as one occurs. This exchange is unity.

Thinking that needs can be met only in certain ways is akin to another belief that has been replaced. This belief was first expressed in A Course in Miracles by the saying resign as your own teacher. This belief in the self as teacher has now been replaced with the belief that you only learn in unity.

The Christ in you is the real you. The Christ in you is the Self who you become when you have united heart and mind once again in whole-heartedness. Thus the union of mind and heart is, as was stated previously, the first union, the union that must precede all the rest. You are in a state of unity when you have achieved whole-heartedness.

You are in a state in which you are able to learn. I am here to show you the way to the Christ in you.

The end of the separated state or the ego, is the beginning of your ability to hear only one voice, the voice we all share in unity. This voice speaks to you in a thousand ways. It is the voice of love, the voice of creation, the voice of life. It is the voice of certainty that allows you to move through each day and all the experiences within it as who you are in truth. It releases you from the feeling of needing to control or protect your treasure. It releases you as well from the static state of trying to hang on to who you were yesterday, or trying to prevent change tomorrow.

As was said in the beginning, it is realized that it is hard for you to believe that the Christ in you is in need of learning. Think a moment of why this should be so. Is there ever a moment in which coming to know is not appropriate? Is there any reason that coming to know should not be seen as something continuous and ongoing?

Again your desire for a static state would make you rather listen to your ego as it prescribes learning for certain circumstances that would be quickly put behind you or chosen for specific outcomes. While many love to learn for the sake of learning alone, still they would be loath to give up or let go the ability to choose their lessons. And still we are only talking about learning as you have perceived of it rather than learning from life.

When you gather much, mm? — the riches of knowledge, scriptures, all around you, libraries condensed in your mind, and suddenly you become aware that you are just carrying the burden of others, nothing belongs to you, you have not known, then you can drop it, you can drop all this knowledge.

In that dropping a new type of ignorance arises within you. This ignorance is not the ignorance of the ignorant —mm? — this is how a wise man is, how wisdom is.

Only a wise man can say: I don’t know. But in saying: I don’t know, he is not hankering after knowledge, he is simply stating a fact. And when you can say with your total heart: I don’t know —in that very moment you eyes become open, the doors of knowing are open. In that very moment when you can say with your totality, I don’t know, you have become capable of knowledge.

Wisdom is paradox; the more you learn to understand, the more you will understand how little we actually understand, and this humble attitude will open the gate to wisdom.
