There is no forbidden knowledge, nothing is taboo in the pursuit of authentic existence — there is only misuse of knowledge. Esoteric spiritual knowledge has never been hidden and is not related to what is popularly conceived as occult knowledge. Esoteric knowledge just happens to lie beyond the normal range of intelligence, and differs from exoteric knowledge in that what is revealed depends on the quality of spiritual development of the person who comes upon it. Traditional Christian religion interprets the Bible in an exoteric pseudo-spiritual way as factual historical narrative, whereas a spiritually awakened person is able to distinguish between the wheat of the esoteric message and the chaff of literalism. And so, to approach the mastering of psychological-spiritual-alchemical skills, the first element to be dealt with should be what is not only the most intimate and significant aspect of our entire existence, but also that which most people mistakenly believe they al-ready know thoroughly.
